RLA (Remnant Life Assessment) Testing of Boilers and Conditional assessment of Boiler component is mandatory as per the Boiler Regulation. RLA is carried out as per the RLA program given by the competent Authority. All types of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) required as per the program are carried our and a detailed report is submitted. Assessing the condition and remaining life of Boiler components operated at high temperature, pressure and at high stresses is necessary to optimize inspection and maintenance schedules. To make RUN, REPAIR, REPLACE such component, to decide the operating parameters with proper permission and to avoid unplanned outages decisions are made as advised by the competent authority on the basis of RLA reports. Thus RLA study plays an important role for obtaining the permission to run the boiler for further period. Such assessment are done by 1) using data analysis based on operational history and 2) on periodic examination of critical components by our team of expert engineers. The later method is widely adopted as it is more accurate since it does not rely on standard material data with their associated uncertainties and does not necessarily require knowledge of the operational stress-temperature data.
